What is Cashmere? Characteristics and Advantages and Disadvantages of Cashmere Fabric
What is cashmere? Characteristics and advantages and disadvantages of cashmere fabric. Cashmere fabric is a kind of clothing fabric made of cashmere raw materials. Cashmere is a thin layer of fine fluff that grows on the outer skin of goats, hidden at the root of the coarse goat hair. It grows in cold winters to resist the cold wind, and falls off when the spring turns warm, naturally adapting to the climate, and belongs to a rare special animal fiber.
Cashmere is a precious fabric, mainly because of its small quantity and excellent quality. It is priced by the gram in transactions and is considered "fiber gem" and "fiber queen". At the same time, cashmere fabric is also unparalleled by all textile raw materials that humans can use, so it is also called "soft gold". About 70% of the world's cashmere is produced in China, and its quality is also superior to other countries.
Cashmere comes in white, blue, and purple. White cashmere is the most precious. China's cashmere quality standards are divided into five levels, classified according to the coarse rate, impurity rate, and length indicators. The grading standards for white cashmere and purple cashmere are also different.
What is cashmere? Characteristics and advantages and disadvantages of cashmere fabric
Characteristics and advantages and disadvantages of cashmere fabric
(1) Characteristics of cashmere fabric
Cashmere fabric has irregular, thin and deep curls, composed of scale layer and cortex layer, without pith layer. The scale density is about 60-70/mm, the fiber cross-section is nearly round, the diameter is thinner than fine wool, the average fineness is mostly between 14-16um, the unevenness of fineness is small, about 20%, the length is generally 35-45mm, the strength and elongation, moisture absorption is superior to sheep wool, it combines thinness, lightness, softness, smoothness, and warmth.
(2) Advantages of cashmere fabric
1. Thin, soft and warm
Cashmere fabric is one of the finest animal fibers. The fineness of Albas cashmere is generally between 13um-15.5um. It has high natural curl, and is closely arranged and has good bonding force in spinning and weaving. Therefore, it has good warmth retention, which is 1.5-2 times that of wool. The cashmere fiber has small and smooth scales on the surface, and an air layer in the middle, so it is light in weight and smooth to the touch.
2. Safe
Cashmere fabric is not easy to ignite. When burning, it does not easily release a large amount of heat, does not produce open flames, does not melt, and can resist intense burning, so it is a very safe fabric.
3. Good elasticity
Due to its large number of curls, curl rate, and curl recovery rate, cashmere fiber is suitable for processing into knitted products with full, soft, and good elasticity. It is comfortable and natural to wear, and has good recovery properties, especially it does not shrink after washing, and has good shape retention.
(3) Disadvantages of cashmere fabric
Cashmere fibers are relatively thin and short, and are not as strong as wool. Therefore, it needs careful care when wearing it, especially avoid prolonged friction with hard objects, coarse cloth, chemical fibers, etc. It is best to wear it close to the body. Especially for cashmere pants, do not pull or tug hard, do strenuous exercise, to avoid loosening, holes, and pilling.
